Dr Jean-Francois Guite

MD, FRCPC RANZCR – Medical Director, Beyond Radiology Christchurch

Dr Guite graduated from the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Medicine in 1995. Following his medical training, he pursued a 5-year residency in radiology and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2000. In the same year, he also became certified by the American Board of Radiology, further solidifying his expertise in the field. Dr. Guite’s pursuit of excellence in his specialty led him to further enhance his skills through a fellowship in Interventional Radiology, with continued professional development through international courses in both North America, Europe and Australasia.

With a passion for innovation in medicine, he committed over two decades to public practice, during which he held several prominent leadership roles. Notably, he served as the Head of Interventional Radiology and later as the Head of Medical Imaging at large teaching hospitals. His career has also been characterized by his dedication to teaching and mentoring, having supervised and trained medical students and registrars from North American and New-Zealand Institutions.

Since 2021, Dr. Guite has called New Zealand home, where he is now registered with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologist.

In 2024, Dr. Guite joined Beyond Radiology, where he now serves as the Medical Director for Beyond Radiology Christchurch. His decision to join the team was strongly influenced by the world-class imaging facilities, the highly skilled medical imaging technologist team and supportive staff. Under his leadership, Beyond Radiology Christchurch aims to continue to provide exceptional care and state-of-the-art imaging services to the community.

Now established in Christchurch, he enjoys local sailing, mountain biking, and back-country skiing, all of which allow him to embrace New Zealand’s natural beauty and adventure-filled lifestyle. Most importantly, he cherishes spending precious time with his family.
